List of Free and Paid directories

Category Link Building | 40 comments »

Yesterday we talked about some of the basics of link building in the form of using directories. Today, as promised, are some of the better locales for making submissions and the approved Gypsy list ;0)

While there are thousands of directories out there, I decided to list the more important (powerful) ones that you can look at; we’ll start with the paid…. I will list some of the ‘FREE’ ones following this list. The reason we look at paid directories is that search engines tend to value them more (as they do with human edited). It is always advisable to have some of these in a balanced link profile.

All this information is fantastic but one wonders how long will it take to do it. We are a small business in Australia making chocolates, selling worldwide including souvenirs and only have a small team together. We are determined and articles like this is fantastic and a blessing – straight to the right information. I love receiving the newsletter and have passed it onto others.

@Pam – that’s the thing though… if success was easy we’d all be rich. By doing things right and thinking quality over quantity you will get the most from the tactic.

Every business has to spend X hours each week on marketing; spend 2-3 each week on this aspect and before you know it the list will be done.

Well, it took me less than a day to get through the entire list of free directories. Results are obviously not visible yet as i have only actually been indexed in 2-3 of em.

If you dedicate one day a week, spread out as you will, you will eventually start seeing steady results with a possibly consistent climb.

I haven’t tried anything with my personal site though, it is still in pieces but i have used it for two other sites. Again, thank you Dave for this list, it is a huge time saver and a valuable resource.

Hi Ryan… good to hear, not make sure to start working on more diversified links. Then in a few months, revisit some others (I have links in there to other lists) and work them some more.

This is like the name says.. foundational… now start building the rest of the house ;0)
